DETAILED ITINERARY
DAY 01:
08:00am to 08:30am - During this period of time we will pick up from the hotels.
We will begin the journey towards Choqolaqa. Our first point of visit will be the vicuña viewpoint in Pampa Cañahuas, from this point we will be able to see the other side of the Misti and many vicuñas grazing freely. Then we will make a brief stop in Patahuasi to have a delicious Inca mate, which is useful for those who have altitude sickness. Next we will pass through Chivay where we will make a brief stop for those who wish to buy something. Our next point of visit will be the town of Sibayo, in this town we will take some photos in its square and church. Following our tour we will go directly to Tisco. In this town they will receive us in our experiential house where we will have lunch and settle in. In the afternoon it is optional to take a brief tour of the Plaza de Tisco and observe its beautiful San Pedro Apóstol Church built in the 18th century. A beautiful construction made from Ashlars. We will have dinner and rest in our experiential house and get ready for the next day.
DAY 02:
Very early we will enjoy a delicious and nutritious breakfast. Then our tour will begin to take us to Choqolaqa. We will take a paved road (trail) to reach the starting point of the walk.
09:00am - Our transportation will leave us at a point from where we will have to walk, accompanied by our guide, about 1 hour and a half to reach the Choqolaqa Stone Forest, naturally made rock formations dating back thousands of years. The path to get there is uphill, so we will have to be in good physical condition. It is essential to wear warm clothing as we will be close to 5 thousand meters above sea level. It is also advisable to carry trekking poles for greater safety.
11:30am - Arriving at the stone forest we will have 1 hour to explore the rock formations and take spectacular photographs.
02:00pm - On the way back we will have to go down to the point where we started the walk, which in this case will take us about 1 hour of trekking. At this point our transportation is waiting for us to take us back to Arequipa.
On the way back we will make a brief stop so you can have lunch and recharge your batteries.
08:00pm - We will arrive at the city of Arequipa.
