DETAILED ITINERARY:
DAY 1: CHECK IN – CITY TOUR
At the appropriate time, transfer from the airport to the hotel. Check-in at the hotel.
02:00pm The group will meet at Plaza de Armas, where we will begin our tour.
Our first stop will be the Qoricancha temple (optional entrance), also known as the temple of the sun, where we will observe the finest Inca architecture and important colonial paintings from the Cusco school.
Afterwards, we will visit archaeological centers located outside the city that are part of the Sacsayhuamán Archaeological Park, such as the ceremonial fortress of Sacsayhuamán, where we will see different temples, sacred enclosures, and platforms that were built with enormous blocks of stone. Additionally, in the vicinity of Sacsayhuamán, we will also visit a craft center to see the works of art created by the hands of Cusco artisans: traditional fabrics (in alpaca and baby alpaca) and gold and silver jewelry (necklaces, bracelets and earrings). And if you want to take a beautiful souvenir home, this will be the ideal place to buy it.
We will also visit Qenqo, considered an underground chamber where mummifications were carried out, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay important archaeological centers of the Inca culture.
Finally, we begin our way back to the city.
06:00 pm Arrival in the city of Cusco and we will leave you near the main square.
DAY 2: SACRED VALLEY
07:30am to 08:00am We will pick you up from hotels in the city center to head to the town of Pisac, located on the outskirts of the city of Cusco, to begin our tour. Accompanied by our tour guide, we will tour the archaeological site of Pisac. Then we will visit its famous craft market, the most emblematic of the region.
Next, we will head to Urubamba where we will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch made with Peruvian products.
After a short break, we will continue the journey to the famous town of Ollantaytambo. The only one in Peru that preserves its urban organization from the time of the Incas. Accompanied by our tour guide, we will tour the famous Inca enclosures of the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo. We will then have time to visit this famous town.
We will then move to the Ollantaytambo train station where we will board the train to the town of Aguas Calientes. Check-in at the hotel. Overnight in Aguas Calientes.
DAY 3: MACHU PICCHU FULL DAY
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco and transfer you to Ollantaytambo, which will take us on a 02 hour trip. Arriving in Ollantaytambo we will board our train to the town of Aguas Calientes, we will have a 02 hour train ride. Arriving in Aguas Calientes our guide will be waiting for us to take us up by bus to the citadel of Machupicchu.
We will have a 30 minute bus ride to get to the citadel. Arriving at Machupicchu we will enter and have a tour of the entire complex accompanied by our guide. Machu Picchu is an impressive Inca citadel built on a mountain, rich in flora and fauna. Its name in Spanish means Old Mountain. It has also been called the Lost City of the Incas, as it was unknown to the outside world until Hiram Bingham revealed its existence to the West in 1911. It was built in the 15th century and attributed to Inca Pachacutec. The site is divided into sectors covering approximately 20 hectares. The agricultural sector is made up of terraces up to four meters high cut into the mountainsides. The urban sector is made up of open spaces and buildings, including the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana or solar observatory, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Main Temple and the Condor Sector.
After the tour of the citadel we will go down by bus to the town of Aguas Calientes. In the afternoon we will have some time in the town of Aguas Calientes before taking our return train to Ollantaytambo. On a 2-hour return train ride we will arrive in Ollantaytambo where our transportation awaits us to take us back to the city of Cusco. We will arrive in Cusco at night and drop you off at your hotel.
